Oyo Circular Road: Bayo Lawal Says Project Will Secure State’s Future

Oyo State Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, has described the Ibadan Circular Road project as a deliberate and visionary masterplan aimed at preventing planning failures and securing the future development of the state.

Lawal made the statement on Friday in Ibadan during the inauguration of the newly constructed chairman’s office at the Egbeda Local Government Secretariat.

According to the deputy governor, major infrastructure projects often have collateral effects on individual properties in the overriding public interest, assuring residents affected by the Circular Road project that they would receive appropriate compensation.

“The circular road is not an accidental project. It is a deliberate, visionary masterplan to prevent the kind of planning failures we see in other cities and to secure the future for Oyo State,” he said.

Lawal said Egbeda Local Government Area occupies a strategic position within major development corridors in Oyo State, including the 110-kilometre Ibadan Circular Road.

He added that the local government’s location presents significant opportunities for economic and infrastructural development across the state.

Egbeda Chairman Commends Makinde

Speaking at the event, Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Sikiru Sanda, commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for providing local government chairmen with the platform to function effectively and deliver on their mandates.

Sanda disclosed that the newly constructed chairman’s office was funded entirely through the local government’s internally generated revenue.

He assured residents that his administration would continue to provide effective services and deliver more dividends of democracy throughout the remainder of its tenure.
