Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has predicted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will defeat former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the January 16, 2027, presidential election.
Adeyanju made the prediction in a post on X, where he argued that Tinubu would secure at least 25 per cent of the votes in every state across Nigeria, including Adamawa, Anambra, Kano and Oyo.
According to the activist lawyer, the president’s ability to secure the required level of support across the country would give him an advantage over other presidential candidates.
“I see Tinubu defeating Atiku in January because of many reasons but let me highlight only one today. Tinubu will get 25% votes in every state in Nigeria including Adamawa, Anambra, Kano and Oyo. No other candidate can pull such numbers. Read this carefully again,” Adeyanju wrote.
He added that northern Nigeria could play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the election, expressing confidence in the region’s capacity to influence the presidential contest.
“It’s only northern Nigeria we should be expecting miracle from. And they have the capacity to do so,” he stated.
Tinubu, Atiku, Peter Obi in 2027 Presidential Race
The 2027 presidential election is expected to feature a contest involving Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and other political figures seeking to lead Nigeria.
According to the political scenario outlined in the report, Atiku is associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while Peter Obi is linked to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The political landscape remains a major focus as opposition figures continue to challenge the Tinubu administration over its economic policies and governance record.
Atiku has repeatedly criticised several policies introduced by the Tinubu government, including the removal of the petrol subsidy, which has contributed to public debate over fuel prices, the cost of living and the broader state of the Nigerian economy.
2027 Election Campaigns and Political Expectations
As political activities ahead of the 2027 general election gather momentum, the prospects of the major contenders remain a subject of debate among politicians, activists and supporters.
Adeyanju’s prediction highlights the importance of securing votes across Nigeria’s diverse regions, particularly in states that may prove significant to the leading candidates.
However, his comments represent a political forecast rather than an established election outcome. The eventual result will depend on the candidates, their campaigns, voter turnout and the decisions of Nigerians at the ballot box.
With Tinubu, Atiku, Obi and other potential contenders in the political conversation, the 2027 presidential race is expected to attract intense national attention.
